7 Easter Prayers For Any Day Of The Year
There are some great tips and prayers for any day of the year, toward the end of the amazing Easter story. The angel greets the women coming to the tomb on that sad and confusing Sunday morning. We can all use the subtle wisdom in this short exchange.
The scripture (Matthew 28:5-7)
5 Then the angel spoke to the women. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I know you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. 6 He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead, just as he said would happen. Come, see where his body was lying. 7 And now, go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead, and he is going ahead of you to Galilee. You will see him there. Remember what I have told you.”
1) Don’t be afraid!
This thought is mentioned hundreds of times in the bible, from God, Jesus and angels. So, we obviously need to hear it. Why? Why don’t we trust that he loves us and that everything will work out? Pray to eliminate fear and build your trust and faith. Although fear is a natural reaction, handing your concerns over to God provides more peace. He’s basically telling us over and over, “I got this. You don’t have to worry.”
2) I know you are looking for Jesus . . .
We are hard-wired to look for more than this world. Are we looking for higher meaning or purpose? That peace? Part of the beauty of a relationship with Jesus is that he’s always there. However, we also have to remember to harness his power. Jesus is the answer to any problem or emptiness. Pray for his help in all situations, throughout the day and throughout the year.
3) He is risen from the dead . . .
He said he was the messiah, the rescuer, the savior, the son of God. It’s one thing to say it. It’s another, to predict your death and resurrection and have it come true! We can believe that he IS who he said he is. He IS in control. Our prayers and perspective should reflect that, always.
4) . . . just as he said would happen.
It’s a promise that he made and kept. If he kept this one – with the agony and humiliation that came with it – why would he hold back anything else from us? (See Romans 8:31-32) Pray with the courage and confidence that he’ll keep his other promises to you as well. (“He will never leave you nor forsake you.” “Plans to prosper us . . . plans to give you hope and a future.” “My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.” And many more.) People will fail you at times. Pray to the ultimate promise-keeper!
5) Come, see . . . You will see him there.
Explore your faith and “come see” for yourself. There is something supernatural about a relationship with Jesus. The angel invited the women into the tomb. Jesus and the holy spirit are inviting us in all the time. “Jesus, help me see what you’re trying to teach me or tell me.” Jesus himself taught, “seek and you will find.”
6) . . . tell his disciples . . .
Amazing things happen in our prayer life and throughout our faith journey. However, they’re not meant to be a secret – even if it is your personal relationship. Share your journey with others and you’ll see that it will bless both of you. When you pray, ask Jesus, “Who needs to hear from me today? Who can I share with or encourage in some way?”
7) Remember what I have told you.
Be a good “student.” Take notes or keep a journal of your faith walk. I’ve done this and was consistently amazed at how much good had happened – even at times when I felt lost! It’s so easy to dwell on the negative or become overwhelmed by life’s distractions and noise. If we focus and remember, it will help you see who’s still in charge. God is God and we are not. Pray to listen better, stay focused on him and put his wisdom into practice. “Lord, help me to obey and become more like you.”

Application:
Try incorporating these 7 tips and prayers for any day of the year.
Try to memorize the 7 and even think of the key words and phrases on your own. No Fear, Looking, Risen, Promise, Come See, Tell Others, Remember.
